Revive Your Post-Winter Hair

March 10, 2015

Spring has finally sprung, making it the perfect time to refresh your beauty routine for the new season. To kick things off right, why not start off by tackling probably one of the most anxiety-causing parts of your body–your hair?

1. BRIGHTEN UP

Cold and gloomy days are over and we are ready to enjoy the colorful spring. Let your hair reflect the season! Ask your colorist to highlight your strands using a technique called balayage. This technique chooses individual strands of hair in a random manner, instead of the more systematic method that foil highlights involve. The outcome is just sexy, subtle and sun kissed hair, which grows out naturally for less maintenance.

2. FACE UP TO THE SCISSORS

We are just talking about a few snips here and there, nothing major. You’ll still keep your locks long, but without those dry, dead ends.  Your hair has taken a beating with winter’s cold and dry weather, so reward it with a trim.

3. BRUSH AWAY THE FRIZZ

The sunshine, blooming flowers and good weather might be inescapable, but the frizz doesn’t have to be.  Applying anti-frizz serum on damp hair just before you blow dry can seal and smooth out the hair cuticle.  Place the serum just mid-shaft to the ends to avoid the “I haven’t washed my hair in weeks” look.

4. UPGRADE THE WET LINE

Spring is about out with the old and in with the new, that means making a change when it comes down to your shampoo and conditioner. You might have been using a moisturizing shampoo and/or conditioner during the winter months. That’s perfectly fine, but with the introduction of spring comes the humid air that will only add moisture to your hair. A combination of moisturizing hair products and humidity will leave you looking like an unkept poodle in no time.  Make the switch from moisturizing to normal hair care products to avoid the frizz.

5. FIND YOUR ‘DO

Spring calls for showers but don’t let the bad weather keep you inside. Get adventurous while protecting your hair and go for the high ponytail, fancy side braid or a messy bun.

6. PROTECT IT

The sun can cause your skin and your hair to age. Opt in for UV protecting shampoos, conditioners and sprays.

7. FEED IT

Spring could be tough as our bodies adjust to the ever-changing moods of spring. Feed your hair, nails and skin from inside our with Aviva Advanced Hair Nutrition. It contains all the necessary nutrients to keep you beautiful throughout the season and prepare you for the summer!
