Avoid Kim Kardashian’s Hair Mistake

March 9, 2015

We all were caught off guard with Kim Kardashian’s platinum blonde tresses during the Paris Fashion Week. Although half of us totally loves it and the other cannot stand it, we all agree on one: she didn’t exactly get it right on the first try.

Here are few tips on how to maintain your newly blonde mane:

Tap water is actually drying and every time you wash your hair, you’re stripping out color and moisture. If you usually wash everyday, go to every other day. You will avoid the brittle feel and the yellow tones.

You’ve got to be gentle. Look for color-safe formulas that won’t strip your fresh color or dry out your locks. If your hair is getting too brassy or flat, you may also need a color-boosting shampoo. Look for purple formulas, which deposit pigments that counteract yellow tones.

You may need to be visiting salon way more often than before so stock up on a deep conditioner – it helps your hair not become too dry. We also recommend a DIY hot-oil treatment. Just heat up some coconut oil and comb it through your hair, then sit with that for 30 minutes.

Update your styling products, too. Alcohol isn’t great for any hair color, but because blonde hair is already likely to be especially dry, you should minimize it as much as possible. Search for nondrying options and softer formulas, like Fioravanti No Rinse Detangling Spray.
