4 Ways To Detox Your Hair

January 26, 2015

Wash, condition, apply serum, apply heat styling spray, blow-dry, hairspray… repeat.

Did you ever stop to think about what you are doing to your hair everyday? Perhaps a hair detox is in order.

1. REPLENISH YOUR HAIR

Start with an at-home oil treatment. Botanical oils are light enough to go under the cuticle and plump the stands from the inside out. Just run a generous amount of Phillip B Rejuvenating Oil through dry hair then apply blow dryer heat for a few minutes so it dissolves any product residue. Let it sit for 20 minutes then work a detox shampoo through your hair adding small amounts of water to lift the oil. We like Neutrogena Anti-Residue shampoo. It’s been around forever and does its job!

2.UPGRADE YOUR WATER

Tap water is notoriously high in minerals, rust, and chlorine, which can seriously harsh your color game. Rust, in particular, adds a yellow tint to your highlights. Spoil your tresses some love by washing your hair with Evian. You can also buy a filter for your showerhead (T3 sells various models at Sephora).

3. KNOW YOUR PRODUCTS

We like to keep it sulfate-free. Opt for products that utilize botanical extracts like Aviva Hydracreme & Keratin Hair Kit. Packed with 11 botanical extracts, including yarrow, meadowfoam, and rosemary, our formula eliminates buildup without stripping your hair of the moisture it needs.

4. LAY OFF CHEMICALS

Get off the bleach and chemical straighteners. If needed, go lighter gradually and ask your stylist to use lower-strength formulas.
